Grandmaster Kim Soo immigrated to the US in 1968 with $100 in his pocket.  He came with a dream of teaching martial arts to any student that was interested in learning regardless of age, race, religion, sex or physical ability.  He established his first school in Houston, Texas and began teaching at several of the Universities there including the prestigious Rice University.  Over the last 30+ years he has had thousands of students.  He has graduated hundreds of black belts and, to date, he has promoted 40 individuals to the rank of master (5th degree black belt or higher).

Grandmaster Kim Soo has attained 10th degree black belt (the highest rank that can be awarded) and continues to provide instruction to his students at his home schools in Houston.  He is one of very few grandmasters that continues to actively teach their students.  He also oversees the Chayon-Ryu International Martial Arts Association which has locations in over 20 states and many countries.
